Ramada Manila Central, Binondo, Manila, Philippines: Review

“Leave the rest to us”. This is the slogan of Ramada Manila Central, the first international hotel in Binondo, Manila. Being a newly opened  four star hotel  with an international brand, I raised my expectation prior to our stay. We visited their restaurant a few months earlier and vowed to check the hotel in the future . Imagine our joy when they offered discounted vouchers through LivingSocial.  With their slogan in mind, we gave our full trust, relaxed and “left the rest to them”.  Were we impressed? I can boldly say  Yes. The hotel have thought of everything  and will do anything to make sure you enjoy your stay.

The  best things about Ramada Manila Central, in my opinion at least, are:  the very nice luxurious rooms that are up to the mark, elegant, spacious, spotlessly clean and well thought out, the food which is top-notch, the staff  who are  attentive and always make sure your needs are met and are so genuinely pleasant  and the service  that  is generally of a high standard.

Our experience was seamless from the reservation  to check-in.  Gillian whom we communicated with via email was very accommodating. Reservation was a breeze. Inside, the  magnificent and wide reception area,  beautiful lighting, simple yet well designed furniture and a marbled staircase leading to News Cafe were most noticeable. The welcome at reception was distinctly friendly and the atmosphere hospitable.

The best thing though was entering the  very luxurious and spacious room. It was new and clean with complete amenities and had a nice view. Being an avid traveler and having stayed in various hotels and guesthouses, this is so far the cleanest hotel we ever stayed in. It smelled great and fresh.

The room furnishings are simple and natural. Colors are earthy  complimenting various shades of red. Above the bed is  a large framed  painting of Koi fish. This  whole Zen set up, the colors, the decors created a peace haven in the comfort of our room. Red for luck, Koi fish for harmony and happiness. What else can you ask for.

The upscale  amenities included complete toiletries( shampoo, conditioner, bath foam and soap, 2 sets of toothbrushes and toothpaste), soft towels, two pairs of slippers, a bathrobe, hair dryer , 2 bottles of  water, newspaper, a mini ref, LCD TV, safe deposit box, lounge chair and  tea and coffee making facilities.

We also spent a few time revelling the view from our room  which looks out across Binondo Church and Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz in the short distance.

Ramada Mornings Buffet

news cafe dean

Breakfast was great.  We ate well, and felt that the buffet menu  which was included in the accommodation was a steal. Even if you are not a guest in the hotel, you can drop by to try their breakfast offering. Buffet is fairly priced.

The buffet spread that morning included ham cheese roll, adobo flakes and bacon.  The bacon was baked so it wasn’t greasy which was great. The adobo flakes were tasty but a bit tough. We would have preferred them to be super crispy.

Our son was contented with a combo of fruit loops, corn flakes and choco flakes. You can bring your kids for breakfast and they will definitely enjoy this.

Those who prefer vegetables and fruits will not be dismayed. They have fresh fruit platters like watermelons, papaya, melon etc. and a salad bar (lettuce,  olives, cucumbers etc )with various dips and dressings to choose from.

Hot  fried rice,  steaming siopao, siomai, congees were also available with century eggs, pickles and other side dishes.

Assorted breads with marmalade and jellies. I was hoping they would serve  croissant but unfortunately, they didn’t have them.breakfasta

Other viands were beef misono, longanisa, steamed Chinese ham, fish fillet with pesto and sauteed vegetables.  The fish fillet was a hit. I just love anything with pesto.

Ramada Lunch Buffet

One of the hotel’s highlight is its restaurant, The News cafe. We tried the weekday lunch a few months back and the Sunday brunch just recently. Both times did not disappoint.  The cafe  was smoothly and professionally run. The buffet lunch was delicious with a great variety of Chinese  and western food, fresh fruits, juice, tea and coffee. They had  a pasta station. You can choose from 3 sauces, white, pesto and red which was a bit spicy. Since  it was cooked upon order, expect it to be warm  and flavorful. They also had a carving station. They had Lechon chicken and pork. Crispy and tender.

Check photos below to see more of what they offer. Enlarge to appreciate.

In parting,  this was the best hotel imaginable.  The room was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant food was delicious . The hotel receptionists and staff were very courteous and helpful. The security was top-notch and the service was the best we have ever experienced.

We look forward to coming back to this hotel soon. Definitely among the best to stay in Manila.
